Ecommerce UX Review

The user experience, also known as UX or UE, is how a user interacts with and experiences a product, system or service. It includes a person’s perceptions of utility, ease of use, and efficiency.

Each person has a different UX, which means in order to be prosperous, businesses have to shift their perspective to fit the consumer’s needs. In the same sense, successful digital merchants constantly hone and revise the way their website handles user interactions. They know that eliminating friction from the shopping and purchasing process will improve business performance.

Mid-tier merchants may not have access to the same functions and processes that a larger organization would. Thus, the Ecommerce UX Review helps mid-tier merchants to rest easier, knowing that they are making the right improvements to the user experience on their site without needing the same components as the larger companies.

Our experts will investigate the key areas user experience can be improved:

  • Navigation
  • Search
  • Product Presentation
  • Checkout Process
  • Account Management

We’ll uncover both Errors (i.e., user experience failures) and Opportunities (quick and not-so-quick wins that will produce results). At the end of the study, we review the details with you and help you prioritize follow-up work.

Types of Issues We Will Investigate

Design Issues

Often, UX issues stem from poor implementation of styling, failures in responsive design or poorly-structured html templates. Typically, these are in templates that can quickly be improved with site-wide benefits.

Functional Issues

Sometimes, something doesn’t work, like a button that does nothing, a part of the page that never loads, or an image carousel that takes too long to load. These are often code-related issues that can be addressed at a global level.

Messaging Issues

Often, your users lose confidence in the site simply because they don’t know it’s working properly when it actually is. We’ll look for these issues in key parts of the site.

Site Performance

A page that takes too long to load is worse than one that doesn’t because it leaves your customer hanging. We’ll do a basic review of the symptoms. If you want us to take a deeper dive, we recommend you have us perform a Technical Site Review.

Audit Process

The entire process usually takes 3-5 business days and proceeds as follows:

  1. Purchase this product.
  2. We will schedule a 30-minute introductory call to discuss the key symptoms and issues you want to explore.
  3. We will send you a list of credentials required. If some of your features are only available to certain classes or groups of users, we’ll need accounts that enable us to explore as much of the site as possible.
  4. We will schedule another 60-minute meeting to review our findings and email you a report.
