Although there is not a set date, it is becoming clearer day by day that Magento is shifting its entire focus to M2. With that being said, it might be time to take a look at your site and decide if now is the time to make the move to Magento 2. M2 Migrations are a large undertaking, and Razoyo has already successfully completed migrations for several clients. We understand the complexity of the move, so we work close with our client to provide the smoothest migration possible. “What does a migration entail?” There are several steps in the process, but we like to start with… Customization/Design Before we get into the swing of moving over code and products, we want to collaborate and come up with a plan for the site. We are not fans of simply filling in a template or re-doing your current look (unless that’s what you want), so we prefer to generate a plan for the site’s design. Want custom swatches instead of drop-downs on product pages? Prefer configurable products instead of grouped? Decided you want an accordion-style filter on category pages? Want the headers to be purple instead of blue? We need to know all of this before we even place our fingertips on a keyboard. Our team will put together a step-by-step plan to ensure that the site has all features included by the end of the migration. Catalog Migration Catalog migration can be somewhat straightforward, depending on the path we decide to take. If the client is not looking to do any major changes to products and categories, then we can transfer the attributes, attribute sets, and categories over to the new site. After some spreadsheet cleanup, we will import the products over and add images to the back-end. However, if the client wishes to modify the products (add more configurables, swap bundled for grouped products, etc.), then we will formulate a course of action to get this done. We will decide which path makes the most sense and will gel best with the new build. Extensions Why would you need extensions? Magento does have a plethora of features, but it might be missing some functions wanted for the new site. For example, if you’d like to upgrade the search feature (which is very basic in M2), then we would recommend a search extension to give it a boost, such as Sphinx. Or perhaps you would will be uploading massive amounts of products in the future. In that case, we would suggest installing RapidFlow.
