Input from fellow Texans significantly informs my decision-making and empowers me to better represent the state. I especially appreciate your patience awaiting a response as we established our office and mail system. The Internet embodies entrepreneurial freedom and should be protected and cultivated. It has allowed new businesses to compete in the national marketplace in ways that would have been impossible 15 years ago, and it empowers consumer choice. The misleadingly titled Marketplace Fairness Act is a job-killing tax hike. It is, in effect, a national Internet sales tax, a constitutionally questionable attempt to overturn the fundamental idea that states' taxing authority ends at their borders.
